Dark chocolate makes me happy.

I could justify my adoration with antioxidant data and references to studies on blood pressure and infants' moods, but those are all just figures in tables with no charm or spark.

The truth is that chocolate is a pleasure that makes me smile. I am in helpless happy love with the stuff. Because my body is silly, I don't dare consume chocolate below 80% cocoa solids except on rare occasions in the tiniest of bites. I can be tempted to those sins by mint and chili and almonds, but the vast majority of my afternoon chocolate indulgences are fulfilled by the darkest of darks.

And yes, I do try to enjoy my beloved every day. I take a seat near the sunniest window I can find, slowly unwrap my portion for the day, inhale, gaze, smile, snap, bite and savor...

Ohhh, but I sound a little loony. And when it comes to chocolate, I suppose I am. But I'm also a sister, daughter, student, employee, peace-seeker, optimist, jazz lover, disco fiend.

And even more than chocolate, I love kind people.
